Vertical Bay exists to foster healthy sea-life in Penobscot Bay and to provide ocean-positive seafood to those in Maine and beyond. We are committed to developing a fishery that supports the marine ecosystem and economy of our coastal Maine communities.
As filter feeders, scallops continually clean the waters of the bay, collecting the nutrients they need to grow from the ingoing and outgoing tides. Feasting on phytoplankton, algae, and organic matter in the water, they work to create a healthier and cleaner habitat for their sea dwelling neighbors.
